Starting uni life can be a fresh start, and knowing what to take can be tricky, as for many it's their first time living alone, so here's a brief guide of things that I wasn't told to bring that I think are quite important.

Essential Study Supplies

  • Notebooks, even though the vast majority of my work is on my computer, taking some notes or key points on paper is quite helpful, as it gives me a physical reminder

  • Highlighters, anytime you get a handout out using a highlighter can be a quick way of annotating to make sure you get to focus on key takeaways

Tech Gadgets

Studying in a noisy environment can be challenging, and headphones are very helpful in these environments. I recommend cheap but high-quality headphones, such as.

  • Sony WH-CH520 is a good quality but very affordable pair of Bluetooth headphones with 50 hours of battery life, they'll last through a whole day if necessary, and are quite lightweight and reasonably durable, and they only cost 35 quid.

  • Sony MDR-ZX110, a good quality wired headset, is particularly important for editing or use on multiple different devices, such as a laptop or pc theyre also lightweight and easy to use

  • Additionally, you're gonna want a USB drive to store stuff, since you can amass a lot of files

  • quite quickly, an SD card reader to make data wrangling easier

  • Water bottle, keeping hydrated is obviously important, this doesn't need explaining
